A Legend in Lakewood

Last night, a legendary guitarist performed at the Civic Auditorium.

Joe Satriani rocked out to a few hundred people as they enjoyed riveting guitar action, shred offs, and astounding drum solos. But if you don’t know Joe, here’s what you need to know: he started off as a guitar teacher and some of his students went off to be famous themselves, such as Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, David Bryson of Counting Crows, and Kevin Cadogan of Third Eye Blind. Satriani has also been nominated for a Grammy 15 times, but has yet to win one.

With special guest, Steve Morse, the patrons were in for a treat. 4;30 was the VIP meet and greet, there were even people waiting outside the civic doors at 3:45! The doors opened at 6:30 to everyone as they got their concessions and went to find their seats for the opening act. At 7:30, the lights went down, and everyone knew what was happening, there was cheering and applause as Steve Morse took the stage by storm and did not disappoint. There were 81 extra chairs added to the Civic down in front, in the area called the pit as seen to the left.

All in all, it was an amazing turnout for a stupendous show, and we hope Joe will decide to come back to this venue and use it again!
